Potty Training 101 Recap: An Evening of Learning, Laughs, and Little Wins

In March, we hosted our first Potty Training 101 class with Break Free Pelvic Health’s own Dr. Kaleigh Mathis — and what a fantastic event it turned out to be! We were thrilled to welcome a wonderful group of parents and little ones for an evening filled with helpful advice, hands-on activities, and a lot of laughs.

Throughout the class, Dr. Mathis shared valuable tips on all the essentials of potty training, including:

  • Proper toilet positioning for toddlers (goodbye dangling feet!)
  • How to teach potty training to your little one
  • How to help manage and prevent constipation
  • How to manage the accidents
  • Strategies for overnight success
  • And realistic expectations to help everyone stay calm and confident.

The kids got to join in on the fun too! Playdough was a big hit — we used it to create “poop shapes,” making the conversation about bathroom habits much less intimidating and a lot more fun. Parents also had the chance to mingle, swap stories, and connect with other moms who are navigating the same stage of parenting.

We also shared a list of great children’s books about potty training and poop — perfect resources to help continue the conversation at home in a lighthearted, engaging way.

We’re so excited to share that, thanks to the amazing feedback from this class, we are working behind the scenes on a digital Potty Training 101 course that you can purchase and access anytime! Stay tuned — we can’t wait to make potty training support even more accessible for busy families.
